Following an initial conversation on the telephone to check all the important facts about the funeral or memorial arrangements I will make an appointment to come and see the principal family members at a convenient location so that we can discuss the life of person who has died.  This is so that the service can be designed to best reflect their character and personality and also to provide an insight into their unique story from which I will write the tribute or eulogy unless there are family or friends who prefer to do this.

I can help with suggestions for appropriate music and readings to be woven throughout the service as well as words of comfort and inspiration to help people throughout the ceremony and afterwards.  If there is to be a cremation or burial after the service I lead the mourners through this most difficult of moments in a dignified and respectful way.

After the ceremony I will send a presentation copy of the words spoken on the day for the family to keep, I can also with your permission, have the story of the person who has died deposited in the digital archive collection of funeral tributes and photographs of the Bishopsgate Institute.  Tributes form an important national record of ordinary people’s lives. They have the potential to be valuable to family members in the future and to modern historians researching the everyday details of our lives and times.  A fitting repository for the story of a celebrated life.
